Restrained or you’ll pay

Restrained or you’ll pay

Did you know the Highway Code specifically states that dogs and other animals must be “suitably restrained” when in a vehicle, but that very few people abide by this rule?

And the penalty for breaking it? A whopping £2,500!

This point is an important one, and it’s really relevant for those who manage HGV fleets, as a proportion of HGV drivers seem to take their dogs along for the ride.

(I don’t have any stats on that, but I’m pretty sure that’s the case!)

Anyway, regardless of whether you drive an HGV or a Honda Civic, rules are rules, so it’s worth remembering that for your personal road safety, as well as for the good of the fleet under your care.
