Warning! The cost of repairing an electric vehicle might be more than you think…
As the 2030 deadline creeps closer, more and more manufacturers are pumping out electric vehicles, with a decent range in price and performance on the market now.
Now that fleets are facing the big question – switch now and make the most of Government incentives or push the admin headache down the road and only make the change when you have to? – an important factor to consider has just come to our attention.
Since EVs are so new, there’s not a huge amount of information out there about how much they cost to repair.
But it’ll certainly pay to choose your EV models carefully, if this story’s anything to go by!
That’s right, this particular model was less than two years old, and yet the quote to replace the battery enclosure case was nearly half the cost of the entire car, brand new.
To make matters even less attractive, that sort of work isn’t covered by the warranty.
Now you might not be planning to switch to an entire fleet of Jaguars, but it’s worth doing a bit of due diligence as you work out when to make the move!
Insurance might have saved the driver in this Jaguar story, but we're guessing they won’t be too pleased by next year’s premium.
In all likelihood, repair and maintenance costs will start going down as even more models come to market, but we just thought this was worth flagging!
