Yet another world record…
If you’ve ever opened a copy of the Guinness Book of World Records, you’ll know that there’s a record for pretty much anything.
We talked about the record for the fastest time changing a wheel on a moving car recently and there’s every bizarre record you can think of…
Whether it’s the most cans opened by a parrot in a minute, the longest beard, or the most panes of glass run through in a minute.
But in a feat fit for a Fast and Furious film, a man has set a new record for the fastest mile driven in reverse.
The key difference between this and the Vin Diesel movies is that this is very much real – there’s no CGI here.

Scot Burner, who lives in Tennessee in the USA, has made it his mission to achieve the top reverse speed in several vehicles…
And he set the record with an average speed of 48 mph, reaching a top speed of 54mph.
He runs his own YouTube channel dedicated entirely to testing the top speed of vehicles in reverse on-track – and he’s been doing it for more than 20 years.
Interestingly, cars feature speed limiters that don’t allow them to drive more than 60 mph in reverse, so when you see the stunts in Fast and Furious films, there’s a fair bit of movie magic going into those…
But it’s not something I’m going to attempt any time soon.
