Working Remotely From Behind The Wheel?

Working Remotely From Behind The Wheel?

Remote working is common practice for many people these days, although not for fleet drivers…

And I’m not sure even AI can make that one a reality.

But with remote working comes a few challenges, namely making sure you’ve got a proper set-up for your work and that the background for any Zoom or Teams calls is neat and tidy.

One place that’s definitely NOT a suitable background is the back of your driver’s seat as you tootle along down the motorway.

While that might sound incredibly obvious, it evidently wasn’t for a man who joined a Zoom call for an online court to discuss the suspension of his driving licence.

Yep, that’s right – not only was this a court case, but the defendant joined via video link for a hearing about his suspended driving licence… while driving.

Here’s the thing, if most of us got our licences suspended, we’d be at risk of losing our jobs for starters.

Almost definitely for fleet drivers.

But even if it was temporarily suspended and you had to attend a court hearing to come to a decision, your first port of call would be to put on a suit and tie for a video call, right?

I’d be amazed if anyone could name a worse place to do the call from behind the wheel with the camera propped up on the dashboard!

But if you can think of somewhere, I’m all ears…
