Is It A Bird? Is It A Plane? Well, Sort Of…
Superman was nowhere to be seen in San Francisco the other day as an unidentified object made its way back to Earth.
So, was it a bird? Not quite.
How about a plane? Well, sort of…
High above the sky, a United Airlines Boeing 777 was taking off on its flight to Japan, when the landing gear lost something that they might need later on.
That’s when a tyre from the aeroplane came crashing back to Earth with a serious bump.
Unfortunately for a few travellers, it just happened to land in an airport car park squarely on top of several vehicles.
Yep, try explaining that one to the insurers!

Luckily for everyone, it happened from only 200 or 300 feet in the air, right at take-off, meaning that the damage could have been much worse.
The flight was then diverted to Los Angeles where it landed safely before being towed off the runway.
Experts also insist it was an isolated incident rather than being indicative of a larger-scale issue with aeroplanes or Boeings.
It’s definitely not the sort of surprise you want to find as you land back from holiday and head to the car, though…
And it goes to show that anything can and will happen when it comes to vehicle safety.
