What Car Does The Hamburglar Drive?
Some of the most iconic cars ever have been driven by fictional characters.
Just think of Doc Brown’s DeLorean, Batman’s Batmobile, James Bond’s Aston Martin DB5 – and that’s without even mentioning Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or the Ectomobile from Ghostbusters.
So, when we heard that one famous character from times gone by was about to be reinvented and he’d have his own car, we were all ears.
That iconic character? McDonald’s Hamburglar in a 1970 Plymouth Barracuda.
Yep, as part of their new advertising campaign to launch new hamburger recipes, McDonald’s has brought back the hamburger-thieving character complete with his own fresh wheels.

When we say custom, we really do mean it.
With hubcaps in the shape of burgers and a custom paint job, it screams Hamburglar, for anyone who remembers McDonald’s old mascots (Ronald McDonald is still around, if you’re wondering!).
On top of that, the car features a burger warmer in the centre console and the spare tyre is disguised as a giant cheeseburger.
Nostalgia is a powerful marketing tool and it’s one that car companies and businesses such as McDonald’s are tapping into more than ever.
As part of the campaign, they’re inviting people to head over to their website for a chance to win free burgers for a year… although I think I might get a bit sick of eating burgers after a couple of weeks.
I’d be much more interested in winning the Hamburglar’s custom car if that’s an option…
