Have a holly jolly (and safe) Christmas
Despite everything COVID’s thrown at us, we’re still on the final countdown to Christmas.
And if you’re anything like me, there’s still a bit rushing about for some last-minute Christmas shopping to squeeze in before the big man in the red suit arrives.
The roads are bound to be busy at this time of year, and with 5.1 million people expected to be making journeys on Christmas Eve, there’s one thing you should remember…
Watch your speed.
Yep, according to a recent survey, the UK came in 16th place for speeding fines in the world…

The long and short of it is that thanks to a mammoth £43,000 fine, the UK had the 16th highest speeding fine in the world last year.
Incredibly, that £43,000 fine is nothing compared to the largest in the world…
Which was a £580,000 speeding ticket handed out in Switzerland.
In all fairness, they were driving at 180mph – so it’s probably justified.
But that figure seems even more staggering compared with the world’s lowest ‘maximum’ fine – a £0.05 speeding ticket in Sudan.
No, that’s not a mistake – it really is a 5p fine.
The UK is a long way down the list of average speeding fines, too, where Switzerland leads the way with a £10,000 maximum fine for speeding.
So, whatever you’re doing this festive season, stay safe…
And have a Merry Christmas.
