The Hunt For Alternative Fuels May Have Gone Too Far…
Over the years, we’ve all heard about how this alternative fuel or that alternative fuel is the next big thing.
Whether it’s rapeseed oil, biomass, hydrogen or most other options, the problem is always the application on a wide scale to replace petrol, diesel and hybrid vehicles.
Even EVs have the same issue in terms of getting the supply of chargers and power on the grid in the UK to the level it needs to be for us all to drive them.
But what if the solution was sat in our sheds the entire time?
Well, one group of people decided to take that challenge and rise to it when they powered a car with 50 cordless drills.
Yep, really…
It’s one of those questions people ask and you’re not entirely sure where it’s come from.
But then you can’t help but want to find out the answer...
And thankfully, the Garage 54 YouTube channel did that for us and despite having to make modifications along the way, it did get moving.
Okay, so it barely got above walking speed and the chaos of 50 cordless drills whirring at full speed caused the wiring to melt on the first test.
But after a few tweaks, it did actually get moving.
Still, we’re not sure it’s a viable option to displace EVs as the future of alternative fuel – and I don’t think hardware stores would have enough stock for us all to strap 50 cordless drills to our cars.
