Knitting in a bus lane? That’s a fine…
It’s the moment everyone dreads – a fine dropping through your letterbox...
It happens, though. Whether it’s speeding, driving in a bus lane, or running a red light - drivers make mistakes.
But when a vehicle owner received a fine for driving in a bus lane 120 miles away from their home, they knew something wasn’t quite right.
And when they saw the picture – they knew what had happened…
The automatic CCTV system monitoring the bus lane snapped a picture of what it thought was a Volkswagen Transporter with the license plate “KN19 TER”.
But what actually happened was a woman wearing a t-shirt featuring the word ‘KNITTER’ had wandered along the road before being captured by the CCTV camera.

It’s proof that maybe, just maybe, CCTV isn’t flawless, and there’s still room for us human’s somewhere in the workplace.
Understandably, the vehicle owner was perplexed by the situation and given they only had 30 days to pay the £60 fine before it rose to £90, they quickly highlighted the issue to the local council that issued the fine.
Thankfully, common sense prevailed, and the council cancelled the fine.
The only question we’ve got now is… will the woman in the KNITTER t-shirt be receiving a £60 fine in the post?
