Driver risk management with Telematics integration

E.ON UK case study

Driving Monitor has been a trusted partner of E.ON UK for the past eight years, supporting the management of approximately 9,000 employees under its comprehensive driver risk management programme. Their expertise and advanced technology have played a critical role in enhancing compliance, improving driver safety, and streamlining operational processes.

One of the most significant achievements of this partnership has been the successful integration of key data sources, including Trakm8 telematics for a more detailed analysis of driver behaviour and the implementation of structured manager 1-2-1 reviews. These initiatives have enabled E.ON to achieve the highest levels of compliance, with figures reaching an impressive 98% across the board. More importantly, driver risk levels have seen a remarkable reduction—from 20% classified as high-risk to just 1%—demonstrating the tangible impact of the Driving Monitor system in reducing risk across the business.

Key Benefits of Driving Monitor for E.ON UK:
  • Seamless data integration – combining multiple sources like Trakm8 telematics for deeper driver insights.
  • Automated compliance tracking – ensuring employees meet legal and policy requirements effortlessly.
  • Significant risk reduction – high-risk driver levels cut from 20% down to just 1%.
  • Centralised management – all driver risk data and compliance records in one easy-to-access platform.
  • Manager-led driver reviews – structured 1-2-1 assessments improving driver awareness and behaviour.
  • Grey Fleet oversight – automatic checks on tax, insurance, and MOT for employees using personal vehicles.

The initial phase of the project focused on consolidating disparate data sets and bringing all aspects of driver risk management under one unified system. This transformation has resulted in a vastly more efficient operation, with much of the day-to-day risk management now automated, significantly reducing administrative overhead.

A particularly valuable enhancement has been the improved oversight of Grey Fleet drivers – employees who use their own vehicles for business purposes. Previously, E.ON had minimal visibility into the compliance status of these drivers. Now, the Driving Monitor platform automatically verifies critical compliance factors, such as tax, insurance, and MOT, ensuring full visibility and compliance across the entire workforce.

E.ON continues to work closely with Driving Monitor to maintain the highest standards in driver safety, risk reduction, and compliance management. This long-standing partnership reflects a shared commitment to leveraging technology to create a safer and more efficient driving culture across the organisation.
