Repair And Maintenance ‘Delays’ Causing Issues For Fleets

Delays in repair and maintenance work being undertaken is causing issues for 24% of fleets, according to recent research.
The 2025 Arval Mobility Observatory Fleet and Mobility Barometer found that the total number of fleets saying they have vehicles unavailable as they await repair has risen from 18% to 24%.
That’s a rise of one third of the total number compared with 2024’s figures, highlighting a potential issue for fleets as we move forwards.
As we all know, availability of your fleet is crucial to your efficiency and meeting deadlines and the longer a vehicle is unavailable, the more issues it causes.
Interestingly, it’s resulting in more fleets making their purchasing decisions based on the manufacturer’s availability of parts, something which might not always have been a top priority compared with reliability and performance.
It’s a conundrum for many fleet owners to manage as we move towards a fully electrified vehicle network in the coming years (it may be some time before the final ICE vehicles are off the road, though!).
In fact, more and more fleets say they’re devoting time to manage the service, maintenance and repair process closer than they have before.
But with the ‘daily rental’ market growing again last year in the fleet sector, it’s a clear sign that there are underlying issues that need to be resolved.
Have you noticed any delays in the maintenance or repair of your vehicles in recent months? And has is it resulted in any changes from your end? Let us know…
